Kay Nielsen (12 March 1886 – 23 June 1957)

Kay Nielsen, Illustration to East of the Sun and 
West of the Moon 1914.

Kay Nielsen was a Danish illustrator of children's books, 
a representative of the "Golden Age of Illustration" in England 
and the United States.
He is known for his collaboration with Disney, for which he 
provided sketches and illustrations for the animated musical 
film Fantasia and the film adaptation of The Little Mermaid, 
which was not made during Nielsen's lifetime, and his work 
was not used until production of the animated film began 
in the 1980s.
