Frederick Remington is an American painter who is known
for his paintings on the subject of the Wild West (Cowboys,
American Indians, U.S. Cavalry). Remington also made sculptures
and illustrations, including books and magazines. Despite his many
works depicting the Old American West, the artist spent
approximately two months in the region, during which time he was
able to depict the untouched West and its indigenous inhabitants.
In 1898 Remington was a war correspondent in the Spanish-American War.
He supplied illustrations for American media mogul and
leading newspaper publisher William Randolph Hearst.
