Thomas Cole (1 February 1801 – 11 February 1848)

Thomas Cole, The Voyage of Life: Childhood 1842.

Thomas Cole was an American painter born in the English North West 
county of Lancashire. He founded one of the most influential schools 
of painting, the Hudson River School. One of his students at this school 
was the equally famous landscape painter Albert Bierstadt.
Cole's best known paintings are allegorical works that include a series 
called Course of Empire and The Voyage of Life.
