Abbott Handerson Thayer (12 August 1849 – 29 May 1921)

Abbott Handerson Thayer was an American painter, naturalist 
and teacher. He made a notable contribution to the theory 
and practice of military camouflage through observations 
of camouflage coloration of animals and birds. The principle 
of camouflage he developed is called Countershading or 
Thayer's Law.

Samothrace, which was found on the island of 
Samothrace, in Greece.
